Welcome aboard, Dimitris!

Dimitris Spachos

Dimitris is a computer scientist (bachelor and master’s degree), mathematician (bachelor's degree) but, most of all, a passionate Drupal developer. Born in Serres, Greece, he now lives in Thessaloniki. He studied at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and has worked primarily in state-of-the-art EU funded competitive projects, as a member or leader of remote development teams by applying the principles and techniques of computer science and mathematical analysis in software engineering.

His favourite quote is by Linus Torvalds: “Talk is cheap. Show me the code.”

Dimitris began working as a developer in a private company, using mainly Microsoft web technologies, before jumping into EU funded projects as a developer in 2004, under Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Dimitris has been developing applications based on Drupal since 2009. Drawing inspiration from Amazee Labs and our well-known reputation for quality and company culture in the Drupal community, Dimitris couldn’t wait to be part of the team.

Dimitrios loves challenges – the more difficult a task is, the more interesting it is for him. While developing software, his approach is holistic, while still paying special attention to details (even the smallest backend function may have an impact on the UX). He’s proud of the programming-assists he’s lent to his colleagues and of using his role as a team player to set up his co-workers for big wins. He considers it a great workday when he’s not only accomplished his own tasks but also helped his team to accomplish theirs as well. When someone says “Hey, thanks!” is the most precious moment of his day.

He loves spending time with his family (mostly outdoors), biking with his kids and playing basketball. He’s a big fan of the Greek national basketball team, the Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo. He enjoys reading sci-fi and crime books and comics – lots of comics! He’s a coffee lover and always makes the time to share a good cup with his wife and friends (or beer if it’s night).

In the last few years, he’s fostered his interest in learning parenting tips and methods that make parenting more effective and kids happier and started learning the Italian language, just so he could read some awesome comics available only in Italy.

Dimitris is looking forward to delivering solid, state-of-the-art Drupal web solutions, being more active in the Drupal community by contributing code and documentation, and expanding his skills in areas such as React and GraphQL. Above all, he is excited to be part of an amazing team that shares a common love for software engineering and Drupal. Welcome to the team, Dimitris!
