A recap of 2017 Drupal Global Sprint Weekend

From January 28-29, 2017, Drupal contributors from around the globe gathered in coffee shops, co-working spaces, and corporate offices with one shared goal: to hammer on Drupal and knock out some core issues.

Global Drupal Sprint Weekend

Sprinters had their choice of attending a sprint in person, in any one of nineteen countries or to join remotely from the comfort of their own home. Amazee Labs offices in Zurich, Switzerland and Austin, Texas each hosted sprints, providing nearly round-the-clock sprint coverage.

Our sprints ran all day Saturday and Sunday. Local (healthy!) food, power strips, and mentoring were available to keep our sprinters happy and productive. Our Austin office hosted over 25 people over the span of two days. Not bad for a weekend! Though, we did have ice cream...

Meanwhile, In Austin...

Issues worked on: 10

Issues completed: 2

While everyone helped everyone, I want to give extra praise to mentors Brandon Williams, Charles Leverington, and Rob Ristroph for helping facilitate and mentor sprinters through particularly tricky code.

Highlights: Margaret “Maggie” S., a first-time contributor, pushed her first core patch!

A big shout-out to all the sponsors and contributors who gave of their time, money, and brainpower to help make this sprint worthwhile. We couldn’t do it without you.

This weekend was a great reminder of how amazing our community really is; the positivity, the generosity, and the eagerness of our peers to collaborate and work together toward a common goal.

We hope to see this energy and momentum again soon at our upcoming Drupal camp sprints:
