Introducing our new Project Manager – Sonja Geier!

Born in the South of Germany, Sonja spent the last decade living and working as a diving instructor, underwater videographer, and managing a dive and photography resort in South-East-Asia. With a background in tourism and marketing project management, Sonja is a problem solver, having worked with clients and agencies, as well as internal stakeholders, all around the world to deliver the best possible solutions.

Sonja started as Marketing Project Manager at SAP (her first “proper” job). Having studied business administration and tourism, this was quite unknown terrain for her! However, she rose to the challenge and got promoted to sales programme manager before she left the corporate world to go abroad and become a diving instructor. Ten years later and after working as a full-time underwater videographer, then managing a dive and photography resort (which led to her last position as a video project manager), Sonja’s ready for a new challenge and the next chapter of her life here in Europe.

With a can-do-attitude and overall persistence, she strongly believes that anything can be learned and achieved. She likes figuring out complex problems and doesn’t give up easily; finding the best solution possible for any given problem is what drives her. She’s happiest when she’s ultra-productive. When she manages to solve issues together with the team, and see happy customers at the end of the day – that’s what she considers a great day!

Sonja is famous within her circle of friends for having an Excel sheet ready and prepared for pretty much anything. Her favourite list is her dive logbook, which shows that she’s spent a total of 3,006 hours underwater. In her off-time, Sonja likes spending her free time outdoors, that way she can always keep a clear mind! She's a morning person who enjoys some early morning exercises, chopping up vegetables for dinner and crocheting little sea creatures (Japanese amigurumi) to wind down in the evening.

She’s looking forward to the unique culture and working within such a diverse and global team at Amazee Labs, as well as meeting some new technical challenges head on.
