Aspects And Possibilities of AI generated Content

AIs for the broad public are arguably the biggest tech hype of our time! In recent years, months and weeks, there has been tremendous progress in the field of artificial intelligence.

Every day, social and news streams are flooded with news of AI developments from some of the biggest tech companies in the world. In the future, we will have to adapt to the fact that this development will have an immense impact on creatives, designers, coders and content creators, as well as on many other content-driven professions. In fact, I believe that in the long run, the impact will be comparable to the spread of the internet in society.

It's almost like a gold rush. For the first time, a broad mass of people can experiment and interact with the available AIs, and new tools are being launched constantly. Day after day, incredible amounts of funny, fantastic, bizarre, but also questionable content is being created in this AI playground. The results are sometimes of astounding quality but sometimes also full of errors. And it is difficult to determine whether the AI-generated content was created by humans or machines.

This development may be worrying for some. Some may argue that AI-generated content could potentially take work away from creators and content creators and lead to job losses. However, in my opinion, the output of an AI can only ever be as good as the content it is fed. Generating an exceptional idea and delivering appropriate, unique content in a wider context will require human input for a long time to come. 

But the potential is already great.

We can use AIs as a source of inspiration and as a valuable tool for creatives. Artists could use an AI-generated image as a starting point for a new piece of art, or a writer could use an AI-generated text as inspiration for a new story. A designer, for example, could replace a Lorem Ipsum text with a more appropriate line.

AIs can increase productivity: a designer can save time and effort and have an AI create multiple design options that can then be refined and edited, allowing for a more efficient and streamlined creative process.

Paradoxically, AI can also be used to create unique and original content that a human would find difficult or impossible to create themselves. Imagine if an artist could use AI to develop a completely new style of art, or a writer could write a novel in a completely different style of writing.

There are certainly legitimate concerns about the potential impact of AI on the creative industries, but I think we now need to learn how to use these technologies in a way that is purposeful and profitable for those of us using them.
