Cape Town Hub Christmas Party

The Cape Town Hub, celebrate their 2018 Christmas Party with style and loads of laughs.

Cape Town Hub Christmas Party

With much anticipation, Friday finally arrived, and we were off to our Amazee Christmas Party in Cape Town, South Africa. The Cape Town Hub includes several of our group's departments, including parts of the Global Maintenance Team, Amazee Metrics, Amazee Group Operations and Marketing.

Jack Black Taproom and Christmas decor

Jack Black’s Taproom hosted our event, with its mix of hard rock and live afro jazz music accompanying us as we started off with fun chats, laughter and delicious tapas, including their formidable chilli poppers. Even the brave, seasoned spice lovers were red faced and so the sweet chilli mayo didn't last long. We devoured dinner, with the firm favourites being the famous Butcher Block Burger and the Asian Noodle Salad. The enormous onion rings were to die for and of course, the Jack Black selection of beverages.

The venue also included specially made wall mounted surfboards (seen below), for the upcoming Wavescape Artboard Auction and fundraising event for non profit organisations teaching new creative skills to learners.

With such a diverse team, conversations ranged from surfing, snake catching, politics, philosophy, cycling, online shopping, chicken coop building, financial investments and the latest trends on the web. Countries represented were: Switzerland, Zimbabwe, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany and South Africa. While most of us work from the Hub office, we do work remotely from time to time. It was great to have everyone all together.

All the teams celebrating

Following the amazing food and celebrations, we gave out secret Santa gifts with much oooooohs, aaaahhhhs, and hugs. The team drew names from a red hat weeks before, to select their recipient. Our elf eared, Christmas tie wearing, lovingly called "Oupa" (the grandfather), Jason Lewis, then presented and handed out the gifts with a little story before each. The design team had also created beautifully crafted, laser cut wooden trees for decorating our homes over the festive season. Each had an encouraging message.

Gifts included chocolates, reading books, Drifter IPA beers, kitchen gadgets, coffee mugs, games, lotions and local art crafts. Thanks to all.

Amazee End of year Party

No elves or green reindeer were hurt in the creation of our decorations or costumes. But, the chocolates didn’t make it home.

All the best for 2018 and here’s to a fabulous 2019!
